This is Tony Medizer. He was born in West Frankfort, Franklin, Illinois on 14 November 1916. He died 7 September 1994 in Oakland, Alameda, California.
On 12 August 1947, Tony married Mae Dee Usher. They had twin daughters on 13 November 1948. Melissa Joyce Medizer and Theresa Ann Medizer. They were born 9 minutes apart.
Tony Medizer served in the Army during World War II being stationed in Italy.
In his youth, Tony would often go swimming with his family. There is a story about Tony and his brother Jack. They decided to play a trick on their mother Gertrude when they went to the river/ reservoir for a picnic. The boys were good swimmers. One of them pretended to drown and the other went out to save him and then pretended to get a cramp. They then swam to the other side of the reservoir until their mother cooled off from their trick. Grandpa was a dare-devil and loved to dive into the reservoir. The only problem was they need to dive from a tree beyond the cement wall of the reservoir. He would climb up twenty feet into a tree and dive head first. One time he scrapped his chest on the cement block of the reservoir wall.
Tony's parent's names were Gašper Mediževic and Jera Čuk. This is the Slovenian way of spelling their names. In the American records, my Great Grandparents can be found as Casper Medizer and Gertrude Medizer. This is found in their naturalization records and many of the Census Records. I believe I have found the Ships Manifest for Gasper Mediževic but his last name has an indexing error and is found as Medizone when I search in Ancestry.com Ellis Island records.
